For a game known for it’s difficulty this was a pretty easy and fun run. I got through it for just 4 hours and 32 deaths of which 10 were gotten from Yang, 6 from the Artist and 5 from CEO

Now i need to complete it with higher difficulty so i would curse myself for saying that it was easy >:)

It is a great and short game and any platformer-fan must play it. Great physics, cool moves of the heroine, atmospheric locations, retro style remenising of N64, but also no story and ultimatly lacking combat. Still it is exactly what i wanted from Motorslice’s Demo, but made good. It was a nice small game for a couple evenings of jumping around as a [goat/bunny/cat]-girl

But using bilinear filtering on textures lower res then 720p is a very bad idea, and i don’t care that Nintendo 64 had this texture filter, it looks very bad on a screen with more then 360 pixels in width, and pixelisation filter in-game helps a bit, but it doesn’t save the blurry mess of the locations upclose

Also on final boss i got a bug and stopped taking damage which made an already anticlimactic fight even more anticlimactic :|

Cool setting(without proper level-design), anime tan with a chainsaw(and no character), diagetic camera drone(that makes me puke), parkour in megastructure(that is just not working properly)

So it is a cool concept, but realised poorly and needs some work done before going into a full version

Yakuza 0: Director's Cut

In short 42 hours i finished Yakuza 0, and i must say that it was a very interesting gaming experience. And that is because it is two games in one, and it is not because of the two protagonists i played as

The selling-point of the series is the slice-of-life element integrated into a serious crime story. Simply speaking, in the middle of the yakuza families’ territory war in Tokyo you can: help a rockband with delinquent aesthetics behave like delinquents, find a complex password for the black market purely to find it out, help two lovers with their relationship by the means of crossword, help a guy go through the bridge full of people he pisses of with his jacket, pull out a bunch of toys from SEGA’s UFO Catcher™ for a little girl, and my favorite: write a bunch of letters for a radio-show and get a million yen prize, by this point i had about 200 mills :)

The main story is divided into two arcs. And for me, one of them is way more interesting than another one. I’ll not spoil anything, but i’ll say that first half of the game you’ll think that devs tried to put two games into one, but after chapter 6 you’ll finally start seeing the connections. And you’ll feel pain, i genuinely teared up a bit in the finale

As a whole this two lines can be described as a story about a boy becoming a man, and a man breaking down

Also you can throw money into people >:)

Split Fiction (2025)

If you are playing a cooperative game and both you and your mate think outloud “When it will finally end?”, then it was a bad coop game. And Split Fiction is not bad game, it was boring and disappointing

I genuinely don’t understand how this game gets any praises for the whole, most of the game was a slog to go through. Except for small meme moments and the final level

Bosses are too long. Half the dialog can be cutted out and the game would only get better. It seems that devs thought with any imagination and proper story only for fantasy settings and sci-fi here was just boring in terms of design(and i like bad sci-fi). Characters are non-persons with no real interesting edge to them. Main story is just stupid. “Stories” we dive into are not stories at all, they are just settings, list of tropes, sometimes a metaphor for character’s life experience in a vacuum. Screen had no need to be splited for most of the game. Camera should been “magneting” to the focal points like bosses or hooks like good games do. Control scheme is leaving me with questions like: had devs even played a videogame before?

But the worst part is: i liked moments of this game. It had fun and clever parts, but most of this 12-15 hours were so damn long and drawn-out to pain. Why Josef Fares needed to make such a long game? “Kill your darlings” is not written into all of writing and design books for nothing you know. Cut down most of the slogish parts of this game and it will be a great 6-7 hour experience. And clever use of the split-screen would be nice to see in the main game

Sandstorm (2015)

A small game full of confusion and disorientation. You had been stranded in a middle of the sandstorm and have only your wagon, five sticks to stick in the desert and a camel that escapes from me on every morning

And this smol game has more than enough content to play around with: letters, anomalies and small tools left without proper instructions(i hadn’t caught that the compass for example was really showing north, but i still have no idea what a wiggly wire does)

The best thing this game has is it’s camera. In combination with DOOM-like sprites the camera’s constant random circling will confuse you, bamboozle you, make you go in circles and thinking: “Had i walked by this dry broken stump or not?”

And i couldn’t finish it. Because i am very much sure that the camel’s position is truly random so this double-hunchbacked bastard on the fourth day is usually spawning too far away for me and my sticks and finding him was realistically impossible. And to add salt to my wound
it had been making one single sound to let me know there this thing is, it was useless… So i just fuck around untill timer runs out and this run is over.

So yes this game is not for people with topographical cretinism

If you wanna try it for yourself, here’s the game, it’s free

…become as gods! …become as gods! …become as gods! …become as gods! …become as gods!

I finally really finished Nier: Automata. And i finished it on the flowers for m[A]chines, and i had been under impression by it

A very confusing impression that needs a semi-philosophical ramble of text

						border-color: var(--bg-color);
						border-left-width: 20px;
border-right-width: 20px;">WARNING №2!!! There will be spoilers to the best part of this game

    #
    Part one

Last time we stoped on the entrance to the Shopping Center. Going through it i got to the Forest. In the Forest i got to meet and kill a bunch of robo-knights that were protecting their King. Then i got through the castle to the throne room i met the King… Well it was more of a Prince… Specifically it was a robo-baby in the robo-crib. No need to worry, my bigotry towards the machines
is not big enough to hurt a baby. But my kindness didn’t help it then deserter YoRHa named A2 got to it. She killed the kid. Then i got the order to kill the deserter and we fought. I almost won and the bitch escaped with words “I am not an enemy, your command are your real enemy”. And i hadn’t seen her after that. This whole plotline is practically abandoned by the story. Maybe if got to complete “Traitors of YoRHa” i would get answers, but i wasn’t able to do that

I walked back from the Forest using the shortcut kindly provided by Pascal. From there i transported back to rebel base, there the leader given me the mission to protect a missile on the Sunken City shores. She said that there was nowhere to hurry and if i had other YoRHa business to do i could do it before dealing with the rocket. And i should’ve listened to her

    #
    The moment of no return

That was one of this moments that just automatically made all non-completed sidequests into the failed state. And i can understand such practice for the last hour of the compain, but there were at least 4 full hours of game after that >:(

I hadn’t mentioned him before, but i had a companion during my adventures. His name was 9S and he irritated me :)

Sooo, in the Sunken City after i fought off some machines
, me and my companion 9S got summoned to protect the aircraft carrier. And about 3 minutes later that carrier got eaten by a robo-whale weaponized with a machine
factory, tonns of guns and radiowave jammers. I wasted about 20 minutes on destroying the jammers on this whale’s back. Then played a mini-game of “press the button B then the Whale opens it’s mouth”. And then Pascal got to help us the best he could. And 9S made up an ingenuious plan of me doing the same shit and him shooting the Checkov’s missile

Results: Whale is dead and stands in the sea, dozen of androids(including 9S) got spread on the map, and i was dealing with all of the consequences

    #
Fight club or how i killed Adam

To find 9S and other YoRHas i was issued a scanner. And i found all missing androids exept for 9S

And while i was searching for the boy on the shores of the Sunken City i found an underground fight club where androids beaten uping machines. I got to win one fight and was gifted a pack of hair dye. But after i saw that machines in there were having same rights as circus lions, i had no wish in continuing my participation in this

On the way back i finally found breadcrumb trails of 9S. They got me to the elevator in the caves next to the Alien Mothership. Going down this elevator i saw the small town built of white voxels built by non-other than Adam. The same Adam who got born this morning and same Adam i beaten up twice. He was surrounded by corpses of players(corpses here work in the same way lost packages work in Death Stranding). And since our last confrontation he got some nice clothes and capture 9S. We fought for the third time, i killed him after two attempts

The best part of this fight was that 9S got damaged enough to be laying in the hospital till the finale :)

The interesting part was in the Adam’s monologue. As it was characteristic to the machines’
fascination towards the humanity and human way of life, Adam wanted to feel all of the aspects of the human life. That was the reason behind creating this town, that was the reason of him disconecting from the network, and that is why he wanted to die

That was the moment i knew — the things go towards real serious themes i had started this game for

    #
    Back to the factory

As in any good story, in Nier: Automata the story is built in the cycle. After killing Adam, i got a call from Pascal. He asked to assist him on the peace treaty talk with other settlement of the machines. They were living in the factory from the beginning of the game

Entering there me as Pascal got to see the religious life thriving in the place previously promoting progress and industrial triumph. They had all signs of centralized religion: they wore robes and funny hats, spoken about god and chanted songs, all that stuff. They were not dangerous. Until we got down to meet their leader

Then we got to the throne room, their leader had lost his head, and the surrounding choir started chanting “His grace became a god!”, “We will become as gods!” and most importantly “You will become as gods!”. They attacked us and blocked off the main entrance. So me and Pascal needed to take a long way around the factory

And belive me or not, this was the hardest moment in the game for me. And reason is simple: this cultists come out of nowhere and have suicide bombers

Remember that after death 2B leaves a corpse? Well this corpses contain all of your chips except for the HUD and OS. And i lost all of my upgrades to the one-shoting industrial press. Which ment i had lost: running speed, HP regeneration, melee and gun damage, item magnet, autouse of healthpacks on low HP and damn good fishing spot detector >:(

And without this chips i cannot react to this &#Ъ%!@$ machines
and started constantly dieing

After wasting an hour of my time on suicide bombers and presses, me and Pascal finally ran of the most infuriating part. And i am thankful for this marathon of pain, because after third attempt i started seeing that not all robo-cultists wanted to kill us, they had no interest in dieing themselves. They were hiding in the corners, praying for their god, they feared for theirselfs and their friends

The peak of this pain was the last fight with cultists. In it among attacking machines there were scared machines that just got into the fetal pose and prayed for help. Both sides wore same robes, same funny hats, had same models, same voice and same faith

After that i had beaten the boss, which really hadn’t mattered

And then everything was over, me and Pascal got to see the soulcrashing image. In the smeltery cultists started throwing themselfs into the pit of melted metal with maniacal laughter and words like “I feel good!”. Repeating “God… God… God… God…God… God… God…”, “All we need is to die”, “I am scared”, “We will be free of our tourment” and to give me a proper gut punch they said “Bye-Bye”… The whole factory was full of corpses of dead machines in robes…

And it seems Pascal got traumatized enough to get a fuge and forget what was happening in there, the only thing he said is that the factory was huge and he wanted to revisit it

I was sitting in the shower for about an hour thinking of this scene…

    #
    flowers for m[A]chines

And now finally, finalle

I will not spoil it, but i’ll say a thing: i had tricked you again

I hadn’t really finished with Nier: Automata. Because flowers for m[A]chines even if it has real credit sequence and zeroes out the safe, is still a fake ending

It was an overly soppy and underdeveloped. Right after catharsis of the Abandoned Factory last two hours of the game felt meaningless. It hadn’t added a thing to the metaphorical dialog between me and Yoko Taro. This was nothing. Story just ended with absolutely tasteless, nothing-burger sequence of events unusually boring for this game. After credits i felt far less emotions than after eating Mackerel thanks to my stupidity

And i was ready for this ending. Because Nier: Automata is a game with whole english alphabet and one greek letter worth of endings. And it was obvious that the ending with main condition of “just finish the game for the first time” will have nothing of value

And even without knowledge of the alphabet i would anyway expect this result due to dozens of locked out locations, the fact that some sidequests are not completable due to this locks or even just absence of needed characters. Or that names of some bosses are written in sci-fi hieroglyphics. Or even the hacking minigame that in this story featured exactly once in the easily dodgable attack of one of the bosses. And most importantly: plotlines with no resolution

So yea, i hadn’t completed Nier: Automata

Nier: Automata (2017) — aji wo [K]utta

Oh no… I forgot to save…

I had completed Nier: Automata for the third time. This time though i have no excuses for my stupidity, i was warned about not eating the fish, but i just eaten it

As a result of this action, 2B had all her bodily fluids congealed, muscles paralyzed and her last thought before sweet embrace of death was “It was good, though, exquisite even. No wonder humans used to eat them…”. And that’s how i got another set of credits and aji wo [K]utta ending

And before this terrible act of idiocy i had:

Founded stolen chips with secret data for a sketchy behaving guy. He promised to introduce me to his family

Got to participate in challenges from robo-shamans with rules for every occasion

Helped Jackass(that’s her name) in her scientific pursuits, that mostly consisted in killing a bunch of machines. She also was the one who had given me the Mackerel to check one of her other hypothesis

Found the Alien Mothership. There i also met Adam and Eve. Both were guys and both had killed all of the aliens on board of this ship, next up on their plan were humans on the Moonbase

Raced against the blue flying machine who had been overtaking me by literal meter each and every time >:(

Met a philosopher machine named Jean-Paul. Who to my disappointment was <del>speaking in nonsense</del> an existentialist

And finally started a trip to the forest to meet the forest king. In the Shopping Mall on the way there i met a bizarre ball with bizarre face inside one of machine’s heads, that got away before i got a chance to understand what had just happened

And that was the moment i had eaten Mackerel out of boredom

To my happiness, i had only lost the progress just before meeting the bizarre ball with bizarre face

Nier: Automata (2017)

Now it is definetly the finale :)

As i promised, i’ll write on all the endings i’ll get. And this time i fully consciously removed 2B’s OS Chip and got fa[T]al error

And no i hadn’t done it for shits and giggles, it was a very logical solution to a problem i got myself in

When i had tried to find a shortcut to the Pascal’s village, i had found a quick way to get back into the ruins, but i hadn’t understood that it was a one-way road and to get back to this place i needed to make another hook through the Amusement Park

And my usual hubris and single-mindedness got me in trouble then i tried to parkour back to the village through this one way shortcut in the same manner a person might try to put the toothpaste back into the tube.

As a result i had fallen down into the cavern. It seemed to be a way later location than my character should’ve been prepared for. Machines there were of 30th-40th levels, my usual at this point were maximum 15th. But they hadn’t been much trouble. The trouble was that i got stuck in this cave and hadn’t found a way back to the surface.

So i got to use the old reliable samurai’s solution of killing myself. I activated 2B’s Self Destruct mode. But i hadn’t considered that my automatic health injector wouldn’t deactivate for this. And so i got 2B with concussion and a disintegrated dress. I open the chip menu to remove the auto-heal and remembered that i can remove any component from 2B’s RAM, including her OS.

So i removed the OS and got to the second round of 10x credits :)

So here is my opinion on the game as a whole at this moment: i love it. It has everything i love in a good game: confusing lore, unique gameplay mechanics that give both lols(as i given in this story) and unusual gaming experience, secondary quests that are small personal stories or straight up comedy sketches(a machine tries to scam money from me, but i’ll not be a stupid girl it thinks i am) and philosophy that definitely hides behind the corner

Nier: Automata (2017) — broken [W]ings

Well, i presume the game is over :)

As you could’ve guessed i technically had completed Automata on the most shameful of endings — broken [W]ings

Simply speaking got killed during the tutorial. And considering that i’ve seen the ending titled(even if they’ve been sped up), so let’s count it as a completed walkthrough. And from the second attempt i had finally properly passed through the tutorial and got to propely save

And now i played the game through the Desert area and got to fill up 2B’s RAM with most essential software: fishing detector, sound visualizer and additional walking speed

Free will is a myth. Religion is a joke. We are all pawns, controlled by something greater: Memes. The DNA of the soul. They shape our will.

After finishing all of Bayonetta and MGS1 i got to this one. And it is the best of both worlds: absurd style of Bayo and a very fun but depressing in retrospective story of Metal Gear

It was the cutest game i’ve played. There is a whole bunch of cute animals you help to deal with some minor problems. And then you get everybody to make a cool fort out of cardboard. And also it is about how adulthood looks from kids perspective, and how hard it is to get adults into having fun

It is short, it is sweet, it is fun. Play it!
