Spider-Noir (2026)

★★★★

Nicolas Cage plays Spiudr-Man like he’s in an adaptation of Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis”, and overall, it’s exactly how I expected Nicolas Cage to play Spider-Man

Overall, it’s a decent series for a couple of evenings. Although, of course, it’s clear what kind of legal acrobatics the producers had to pull with names and lore to stay within the Sony’s license. Well, there was so little Spider-Man in the suit that I thought I was watching a Dick Tracy series

Episode 5 was pretty good, but other ones are going by a sine wave

And finale got the lower part of this wave

At least it is shot well and by the end they remembered that Matt is a lawyer

Gamoverse — Episode 1 (2026)

Not bad, i liked it, got some questions, but it’s a pilot episode so we’ll get answers later

Also, I hope Ross and mates will not stop on retro games and go into deeper with more modern references, like making one world a mix between Disco Elysium and Yakuza where the hero just doesn’t give a fuck about the killer of his family and goes around doing sidequests and playing ingame arcade, or making the mix of Nier and Half-Life where there are no ending and the world is just stuck in the infinite loop of infinite repetition of same “endings” because there is no Episode 3, or explore Roguelikes with the whole episode being made with nothing more than a bunch of ASCII Characters, or just do a Sim City parody with perspective from the civilian folk

One Piece — Into the Grand Line

I cannot state enough how much i missed One Piece from my life.

Genuinely i missed this crew. Even if i dropped anime after Thriller Bark because it was unwatchable with it’s pacing.

But live action TV adaptation of One Piece cannot afford the sluggish pacing of anime and needed to go through first half of Alabasta Saga with only 8 hours, which is about 80 time less than anime needed for that. Surprisingly they even added some stuff that was reckoned in later chapters in current episodes…

Shooting the whole show in a sequence of long takes is a very odd choice, but it works

“The Missing Reel” was a very stupid but fun parody of neo-noir detectives
