Absolute Wonder Woman #18 (2026)
Zatanna saved Diana’s life and got a useless, almost completely unjustified beating for it. Because what would a superhero comic be without pointless fights due to misunderstandings >:(
On the other hand, it was a really cool pointless fight due to misunderstanding. Both sides were creative and fully utilized their skills. I especially liked how Zatanna(whose magic depends on language) casted a spell in actual ASL (i checked, she gestured “TSOHG”) when Diana put her in a chokehold, expecting that by depriving her of her voice, she would be deprived of her magic. It’s a small thing, but it’s cool thing. I’m sure they hung the Chechov’s gun on that.
And there’s also a whole page of dialogue about love, vulnerability, and compassion between a young Diana and the winner of the 1184 BC Sexy Halloween Costume Contest (see Absolute Wonder Woman #16)
So, it wasn’t a bad idea to miss a month to read the latest issue today :)
